As a drunk redneck told me today at a firework stand I stopped off at before driving out to the coast for what you see below...
"Well son, the way I see it. theres no better way to celebrate our nation that to blow a big ass chunk out of it with some got damn explosives, you come find me when your ready ill give you a good price. I like you"
I totally agree...
So $400 later (between 3 of us), at a place where we get buy one get one.. this Picture below is where we stand as of this post. We currently sit at 144 mortars plus the other stuff you see below.
Im going tomorrow, and we plan to get another big mortar kit, some 500g cake boxes, and some other misc things.
How do you plan to celebrate tomorrow?

cakes are what I wanna get today. Im planning on getting "pyro popcorn", "FPS", and "Dragon's Egg" if I can find them all. And I really want the Excalibur mortar set. If I can find all that cheap enough today, my 4th will be awesome _________________

Funny, im going to Mertyl Beach this weekend, leaving philly tonight actually. When I first moved to PA, i discovered that you can buy the good shit (mortars etc) in state, as long as you have an out of state license.
So I googled fireworks near philly, and found a place in Easton PA (nowhere near philly but w/e) who offered a "we double your purchase for free" coupon. So, several hours of driving later, I ended up at SkyKing.
Walked out with 640 quad-break mortars, an ungodly amount of rockets and roman candles, and my favorite, 4 MASSIVE rolls of blackcat's, 100K per roll. These make quite a display when you dont bother to unroll it and fire her off.
That was a couple years ago, and having grown up and gained a wife, I've exhausted most of my supply. I took what was left of my mortars, and performed a little surgery. Some supplies from home depot and a few hours later, I had myself a 900g flash powder, black powder & potassium nitrate home-made "bottle" rocket ( Custom PVC casing. No commercial firework could be emptied to hold this much powder.i had to use a PVC pipe stuck in concrete to launch, thing was so damn heavy).
Needless to say, it was loud enough to break a few windows (oops, apparently its a bit big for city use), set off every car and storefront alarm in a 4-5 block radius, and summon several EMR vehicles (read: police and fire, as well as gas company, apparently they thought it was a gas explosion).
Spent the rest of the day lounging by our grill, and drinking heavily to drown out the sound of the wife and her visiting friends arguing with each other. |
