Some of you might remember our old RPG server. I always had a good time there, but eventually we ended up shutting it down. The RPG mod has now been redone and has a total of 18 skills. If we get enough people interested, I am considering buying a new server for the community and setting up SourceRPG 1.3.7 on it.

Please vote in the poll and provide any relative feedback in post form so I can see how many people are interested, and whether or not this would be worth while. Thank you.

I don't believe RPG elements would work in an FPS game, especially counterstrike. The part of the experience of Counter-Strike is moving from server to server and playing on the same level as them, with the only divider, ideally, being skill. Of course, there are regulars on a server, but when it comes to RPG, a player who has spent more time on the server would have a significant advantage over newcomers, and couldd potentially force them away from the server. This was precisely what happened last time.

I suggest we should focus our resources on the GunGame server, as it is the most established server we have. Or invest in a TF2 or COD 4/5 server...? Branching out to other games would be an interesting venture.

This could also bring in a new potential skill pool to our counterstrike arm.

I would play on an RPG server, assuming people were on it and time permitting.

You can set a handicap so that new players get a certain amount of credits upon joining and can train up some skills so they aren't that far behind. I don't want a TF2 server, I bought the game and played it like 3 times and I think it fucking sucks balls, and I don't own COD.

Making the starting credits in the 400 range makes a more level playing field. With 400 credits you can get enough health and regen to compete. Most SK servers I have played on use this method with success.

One more thing that makes RPG mod difficult is the annoying ass young crowd it brings in. Whining about teaming up and knifing when its a knife only map. RPG mod also gets old kinda fast. I had setup a RPG server and ran Star Wars mod along with it. All skins were used and they are nice. Yoda, Darth were the main 2 skins.

I think another pub would bring more to us as many have asked to play some reg. Could possibly make it easier to see who may be interested in doing some interclan matches. Just a thought but I'm game with anything. Getting a popular pub server running custom bomb maps are always fun.

see the worst problem we had in the past was ppl putting bots on early in the morning and boosting themselves up in skill. but apoc turned that off last time so i guess it could work. i think we should bring old zombie back, the old maps, the old mod, not these friggin zombies flying around jumping ft in the air. the old zombie mod was the best.

Instead of just an RPG server why not an RPG Jail break server... They seem to get a lot of hits considering very few servers offer the RPG with the Jail break mod. I've been playing on one myself and people have been wanting admin on it and about 6 people have asked to pay for admin on that server... So it could also benefit us with donations aswell. Thats just my opinion though ^^

I've only played an RPG server 3 or 4 times, but they tend to lag a lot.
Did the old server lag?

We never had any problems with lag on the old RPG server, maybe you were playing on a shitty server or something.

i would play the rpg server, i play some now and then mostly scoutknives rpg. but yea i think it would be a good idea to give new players an advantage in points because its fustrating going against a player that has all the upgrades while you, a new player has nothing
