Mapping

A lot of people ask about mapping, however few people end up actually doing it. I have a number of maps on our servers, an old member of ours named headtr!p made a nice map that we still run sometimes, and today I added the first map ever made by Kotor_Lord to our server. I would like to encourage anyone interested in mapping to do the following:

1. Open the Steam menu.

2. Click on the Tools tab.

3. Download Source SDK.

Once you have downloaded Source SKD you will use a program called Hammer to build and compile your maps. You can learn about mapping through reading various tutorials. Some good tutorials can be found at FPS Banana. You can also speak to myself or Kotor_Lord for help with mapping, as well as Fury.

If we get a few people interested I will do mapping tutorials over the Ventrilo server where I will show you how to build a basic map, and then gradually show you some of the more complicated functions.

to help you start, you guys should consider watching at this video, it is pretty simple to follow and it explains the basic functions of sdk, also look for the part 2 from the same damn british guy in related videos at the right
