New Skins

Was wondering, would it be possible to post a .rar pack of the new skins in use in the server? Like there is on the legion homepage with the GG map packs?

Just did (yet another) fresh Os install, and I spent a good 30min trying to dl all the skins last night, got frustrated and gave up trying to play on gg.

They look great, but I think, along with other people issues, the loooong download may be contributing to a decrease in the general server population. Just a thought. I'd be happy to host the skinpack on my server.

The skins should only take like 2-3 minutes to download. I know because whenever I add something new, I wipe out my folders and redownload everything to make sure it works and to see how long it takes. Keep in mind you were also most likely downloading all of the Mani sounds, the GG sounds, the map, and the nav file. Perhaps there was a problem with the web server at the time you were downloading, or a problem with Steam and your connection.

If you want me to send you a pack of all of the skins we use I will, however I do not want my skins posted in a pack, because even though everyone downloads them all upon connection anyway, putting them in a pack just encourages people to steal them and reuse them on other servers.

We already covered this yesterday, but for everyone else:

Issue with long dl on the skins for me seems to be the route between me and the content hosting server. I ran a traceroute to see just how far I am from the server, and it basically looks like this.

Lucy(Philadelphia)->NJ->DC->dallas TX->Phoenix AZ->server host

It didn't always take so long for the downloads to work, and the longest hops were from the DC--> Dallas level3.net hops. I am guessing that there was an issue somewhere around that area, or hoping anyways. I finally got all the skins, and can dl the map pack rar's (provided they are hosted on same server and may take a bit). Also I was/am averaging around 10% packet loss to the server. Again, this appears to be my routing issue, as twist was getting a much better connection at the same time I was running my tests, and we are geographically considered in the same general area.

As I understand it, flickted you setup the initial domain and host. Any chance of moving the co-lo to a more eastern/north-eastern location, as this is where most of us play from?
